EMGDF seeks funding for our School Wings Tools Program for our Michigan impoverished kids, to gain literacy skills from an educational institution for educational success. It’s imperative, that our program addresses the looming crisis in the academic learning process. Particularly, the fact that thousands of our state children attend school on a daily basis without all of the learning equipment needed to execute their literacy learning task. The sustainability of our program will continue to create a vital pipeline for our children to meet their literacy potential.

School Wings Tools Program Details:

Our program targets and prioritize Michigan schools whose student body ranges from extremely impoverished to impoverished, based on the percentages of 87% or higher is extremely impoverish and 65% to 75% considered impoverished. Upon selection, many Michigan schools are researched and placed in a lottery drawing by our board members. The winning school is picked by our board’s president every November. Therefore, the funds that are raised through the United Way fundraiser campaign the previous year, will be allocated to the winning school the following year of the third Friday of February. It will continue to be done in that order each year forward.  At which time, a huge kick-off event is given at the selected school, distributing all the essential tools for our students to learn literacy skills and to implement their science projects as well. In addition to distributing school supplies, we also supply each child with a grooming kit and healthy snacks. The grooming kit includes both personal and dental hygiene supplies. The grooming kits paired with the healthy snack is to help support an overall healthy well-being.

EMGDF Survey and Educators Monitoring:

Essie Mae Good Deeds Foundation works closely with the principals and educators of the selected academic learning institution, by using a survey styled questionnaire completed by the educators to assist the foundation in understanding what supplies would benefit and deliver the most impact on their student’s educational needs. As well as working together to determine how to execute the disbursement of supplies in the most effective and sufficient manner, allowing the children to still part-take in their regular daily school schedule.
